Part A: Anemia

If you scored any points on this one, you should get your blood checked for anemia. Anemia is the reduction of either red blood cells or hemoglobin in blood. Pernicious anemia could be completely controlled with doses of B12 (Cyanocobalamin) of 300mcg. to 1000mcgs. daily.

Drug use, hormonal disorders, chronic inflammation of body, surgery, infection and peptic ulcers, hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, heavy menses, repeated pregnancies, liver damage, thyroid disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, bone marrow disease and dietary deficiencies can all lead to anemia. The dietary deficiencies are iron, folic acid, B12, and B6. The most common cause is iron deficiency. Anemia should always be investigated.

There are a few things that may produce more red blood cells:

    • Blackstrap molasses - 1 Tablespoon twice daily

    • Folic acid, 800mcg twice daily - needed for red blood cell formation

    • Biotin, 300mcg twice daily

    • B12, 2000mcg 3 times daily

If you have anemia eat these foods in moderation or omit them from your diet: almonds, cashews, chocolate, cocoa, kale, rhubarb, soda, sorrel, spinach, Swiss chard, and most nuts and beans. These are foods high in oxalic acid and this acid interferes with iron absorption.

Have a complete blood test to see if you have deficiency before taking iron supplements, as excess iron can damage pancreas and heart, liver and immune cell activity and has been linked to cancer.

Part B: Hypertension

11 - 15+ High Priority

If you scored anywhere between 7 (Moderate) and 15+ (High) you may consider some things about blood pressure.

Our hearts pump blood through the arteries. The blood presses against the walls of the blood vessels. Hypertension means the pressure of the blood flowing is abnormally high. If the blood pressure is elevated the heart must work harder to pump blood to all tissues of the body. Normal blood pressure is between 110/70 - 140/90. 140/90 to 160/90 or 160/95 indicate borderline hypertension.

It is impossible for your health provider to make a correct diagnosis with a single reading. The blood pressure test must be repeated through out the day to be accurate.

Here are some things to support the blood pressure:

    • Calcium - 1500 to 3000mg daily. Deficiencies have been linked to high blood pressure.

    • Magnesium - 750 to 1000mg daily. This mineral is good for the large muscle group, including the heart muscle.

    • CoQ 10 - 50mg 2 times a day - improves heart function and lowers blood pressure.

    • Vitamin E - 100 I.U. Daily and increase 100 I.U. daily until 400 I.U. daily. E improves heart function.

    • Vitamin B6 50mg 3 times daily. B6 reduces water content in tissues to relieve pressure on the cardiovascular system.

    • Garlic - use as directed. Lowers blood pressure.

    • Hawthorne Berry 80mg-300mg of the extract 2 to 3 times a day. Hawthorne may improve coronary artery blood flow and contraction of the heart muscle.

    • L-Carnitine 500mg twice daily on an empty stomach. Carnitine transports long fatty acid chains.

    • Get cholesterol checked.

    • Cut sodium chloride out of diet because too much water retention can cause extra pressure on blood vessels. People who eat high sodium are at greater risk.

    • Increase potassium-rich foods - avocados, almonds, cantaloupe and bananas.

Magnesium will be excreted with the urine when using diuretic drugs. This can cause low magnesium in elderly people. Magnesium is used to prevent bone deterioration and maintain normal heart rhythms and muscular contractions. Loss of potassium also can be dangerous, causing heart malfunction.

Part C: Heart

Our heart is the chief organ of the circulatory system. It is made of the toughest muscle fibers in the body. Most heart disease is preventable with changes in diet and lifestyle.

If you ever feel like you're having a heart attack, call 911 and chew an aspirin immediately, unless you're allergic to them. It could save your life.

There are things that may improve your heart:

    • Vitamin E - 400 I.U. daily. Cuts the heart attack risk by 77%. It also improves the circulation and thins the blood.

    • Wheat Germ Oil, a source of Vitamin E, can raise the oxygen level of the heart as much as 30%.

    • Calcium - 1500mg and Magnesium-800mg. daily to maintain proper heart rhythm and blood pressure.

    • Flax oil or Omega 3 - 3 times a day to reduce blood stickiness

    • CoQ 10 - 60mg. 3 times daily to help heart beat stronger and steadier.

    • Carnitine - 1000mg. daily also to help the heart beat stronger and steadier.

    • Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12 to keep homocysteine levels down.

    • Hawthorn Berry Extract - standardized-use as directed.
      It improves the circulation of blood to the heart by dilating the blood vessels and relieving spasms of the arterial walls.

    • Garlic - at least 300mg. daily of standardized garlic powder.

    • Avoid hydrogenated oil or partially-hydrogenated oil.

    • Increase fiber

    • Avoid salty and sugary foods.

    • Stay away from fatty dairy foods and red meats.

    • Try not to eat processed foods especially those with powdered milk and eggs. They are loaded with oxidized cholesterol.

    • Also avoid chlorine and fluoride, which also oxidize cholesterol

Part D: Circulation

If you scored anywhere from 6 (Moderate) up to 30+ (High) priority, you may consider some things to improve your circulation.

There are many disorders associated with circulation. When plaque forms along the walls of the arteries, it causes them to harden and constrict. High blood pressure can result when the blood exerts greater force against the walls of the arteries.
Some of the symptoms of poor circulation are; aching extremities, fatigue, leg and finger cramps, tingling sensations, and memory loss. Some things you may try to improve your circulation are:

    • L Carnitine - 500 mg. twice daily to strengthen the heart muscle and to promote circulation.

    • Garlic - lowers the blood pressure and helps to strengthen the heart muscle

    • CoQ 10 - 100mg. daily to improve tissue oxygenation

    • Vitamin C with bioflavonoids to strengthen arterial walls.

    • B complex - 50 - 100 mg. 3 times daily. The B vitamins are needed for metabolism of fat and cholesterol.

    • Butcher's Broom is used to treat venous insufficiency.

    • Horse Chestnut is anti-inflammatory and is used to improve the tone of the venous walls.

    • From your diet eliminate animal protein and fatty foods, sugar and white flour.

    • Do not use stimulants such as coffee, colas, or tobacco or eat
      foods with lots of spices.

    • Eat a diet high in fiber

    • Get regular exercise

    • Ginger makes the platelets less sticky

    • Gingko Biloba increases circulation to the brain and the extremities. It also inhibits platelet stickiness and regulates the tone and elasticity of the blood vessels.
